About photo:

A pilgrim walking to Kerbala, Iraq, to visit the shrine of imam Hussain on the Arbaeen (the occasion of the 40th day after his martyrdom, 14 centuries ago). Face and clothes are smudged with mud to show/express their sorrow and grief.

Millions of muslim Shia walk from all around Iraq and from all nationalities to the shrine of imam Hussain on the Arbaeen. The pilgrimage takes tens of days for some of them. The pilgrims are targets of bombing and killing by terrorists.
